- The Jiujiang Economic-Technological Development Zone rests in the western district of Jiujiang City, on the south bank of the Yangtze River and north of Lu Mount and Eight Mile Lake. Its planning area measures 140 square kilometers. About 150,000 people live there.
- With 400 enterprises, the zone forms a primary platform for countries to promote building the Ecological Economic Zone of Poyang Lake and developments along the Jiangxi River. Such developments include a natural deep-water port, container terminals, a port center, a special railway line, the Yangtze River Highway Bridge, a logistics park, a bonded warehouse and a production-materials market.
- More quality industrial-reserve land and other factors provide additional advantages. From the forerunner of port activities, plans call for the formation of modern industries and social-welfare facilities, all in a comprehensive industrial zone blessed by economic prosperity, ideal facilities and a beautiful environment in a modern port new-city.
- The zone adheres to a slogan of “strong power on the port, promote the city powerfully, a production city integrated with the port”. Its development path involves major investment platforms as a national export processing zone, West Port, automobile industrial park and science and technology industrial park.
- Future industrial investments will focus on new energy, new materials, electronic and electrical appliances, automobiles and parts, high-end equipment manufacturing and fast-moving consumer goods. Priorities include environmentally friendly industries, leading or well-known brand enterprises, support to small, specialized and strong science/technology enterprises and promotion of not only production, but also modern service industries to serve for life needs.
- Recently, the area has achieved leapfrog development. For many years, it was named as an “Advanced Industrial Park in Jiangxi Province and an “Advanced National Level Development Zone”. In addition, it has won titles as a national hi-tech innovation service center, Jiangxi green ecological industrial demonstration park, Jiangxi photovoltaic industrial base, electronic information industry export base, engineering industry demonstration base, service outsourcing demonstration park and modern service-industry agglomeration district.
