  • Founded in March 1991, the Nanchang National Hi-Tech Industrial Development Zone gained State Council approval as a national hi-tech area in November 1992. The zone, in eastern Nanchang City, covers 231 square kilometers and has 500,000 residents.
  • Completed construction fills 60 square kilometers with 2,600-plus companies already in place, more than 260 of them foreign-invested enterprises. Fourteen are Fortune 500 companies, like ABB, Sanofi, Microsoft, Oracle, Yum! and Bertelsmann. Thirteen public enterprises maintain their headquarters in the zone. Forty-six companies there exceed US$16 million in annual revenues. Fifteen surpass US$160 million, one soars beyond US$805 million and three exceed US$1.6 billion.
  • During recent years, the zone has maintained double-digit growth and ranks first among Jiangxi Province’s industrial zones. For 2013, its main business income reached US$16.2 billion, fixed capital investment amounted to US$5.4 billion, social retail goods totaled US$1.69 billion and fiscal income hit US$901 million.
  • The zone pursues a strategy of developing advanced manufacturing and modern services industries together. In the process, it nurtures strategic sectors, like aviation, biomedicine, photoelectric initiatives, new energy resources and new materials, outsourcing services and software development. It promotes city-industry integration via ecology, industry, science and technology improvements.
