LIKE POEMS BY DEBADITYA

LIKEPOEMS is a homegrown 'slow' clothing label from Kolkata, India, working on responsibly designed and ethically produced zero-waste womenswear and Knits. LIKEPOEMS uses alternative natural fibers such as Rose Petal, Orange Peel, Hemp, Aloe Vera, Lotus stem, Bamboo etc. to make the yarns and textiles, then uses zero waste cutting and sewing methods for manufacturing the clothes and organic dyes for coloration. The present collection includes zero waste tops, jackets, dresses, trousers and also, handmade sweaters and other knitted pieces. The style is clean, minimal, season fluid, biophilic and every piece is one of its kind due to its zero-waste nature.

Debaditya started working on this in 2019, to support a few artisans hit by pandemic and to promote circular and responsible fashion, the label LIKEPOEMS by Debaditya was later launched in 2021. After Graduating from NiFT in 2015, Debaditya worked for designers like Nitin Bal Chauhan, before joining 'Vrede' to lead it for 3 years. He's a semifinalist of Redress Design Award (in 2018). He's also been an Alumni Ambassador for RDA in 2021. He's collaborated with a number of renowned International artists over the years, and his works on sustainable clothing and costumes has been put up in shows and displays in US, UAE, EU and also across India. Beside designing, he also teaches about the same at Amity University, Kolkata since 2019 and imparts sustainable design thinking and education among next generation designers.
