Three rivers converge on the beautiful Sanshui
Meaning “three rivers” in English, Sanshui refers to the district’s location at the converging point of the majestic Xijiang River, Beijiang River and Suijiang River. As a district of Foshan City in Guangdong Province, Sanshui is geographically located at the heart of the Guangdong–Hong Kong–Macao Greater Bay Area. Sanshui connects the Guangxi–Guizhou–Yunnan High-speed Rail Economic Belt in the west and the Qianhai Shenzhen–Hong Kong Modern Service Industry Cooperation Zone and the Guangdong–Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin in the east.

Sanshui covers 828 square kilometres and has seven towns, namely Xinan, Yundonghai, Baini, Leping, Lubao, Datang and Nanshan. It is home to more than 800,000 people and has earned a number of titles including “Beverage Capital of China”, “China’s First Affluent Town with a Long Life Expectancy”, “China’s Top 100 Industrial District”, “National Civilised City” and “National Forest City”.

At the heart of the Greater Bay Area and Guangzhou–Foshan urban cluster
Sanshui is located at the core region of the Guangdong–Hong Kong–Macao Greater Bay Area and the Pearl River Delta. It is at the intersection of the Guangzhou–Shenzhen–Hong Kong–Macao Science and Technology Corridor and the Advanced Equipment Manufacturing Industry Belt on the west bank of the Pearl River. It is also a key node area in the Guangzhou–Foshan urban cluster and an ideal place in the Greater Bay Area for developing speciality industries. Sanshui is a magnet for attracting talent, technology and capital, all of which are crucial in the advancement of innovation. Already a strong performer in manufacturing, Sanshui vows to maintain momentum in the next stage of its development.

Well-developed air, land and maritime transport network ensuring internal and external connection
Featuring railways, expressways and highways, Sanshui’s modern transport network connects east to west and north to south.

Air transport: Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport, Pearl River Delta Hub Airport and Foshan Airport are just 30 minutes away from Sanshui by car.
Intercity rail transport: The Guizhou–Guangzhou, Guangzhou–Zhanjiang, Liuzhou–Guangzhou and Guangzhou–Foshan–Zhaoqing intercity light rails run through the territory to put the Pearl River Delta urban area within a one-hour radius of Sanshui. The Foshan Metro Line 4 (under construction) and Guangzhou–Foshan Metro Lines 8 and 12 (under planning) will connect with the Guangzhou–Foshan metro network to turn the two cities of Guangzhou and Foshan into one.
Land transport: Highway networks and expressways (including 321 National Highway, 269 Provincial Highway, Guangsi Provincial Highway, Qinglong Provincial Highway, Erlianhaote–Guangzhou Expressway, Guangzhou–Kunming Expressway, West Second Ring Road, Guangzhou–Gaoming Expressway, Guangzhou–Foshan–Zhaoqing Expressway, Foshan–Qingyuan–Conghua Expressway, Zhaoqing–Huadu Expressway, Guangdong–Foshan and Foshan First Ring Road) offer direct access to major cities in the Pearl River Delta within one hour.
Rail transport: Railway lines, such as the Guangzhou–Maoming and Guangdong–Zhuhai Lines, form the main artery of the Sanshui railway network, which links Sanshui and connects the district to various railway yards including those in Foshan and Guangzhou.
Maritime transport: With the Xijiang River, Beijiang River and Suijiang River running through it, Sanshui has a 100km shoreline suitable for operating 3,000 to 5,000-ton docks. There is a branch office of the Foshan Customs Bureau and an import and export vehicle inspection yard located in Sanshui. The 5,000-ton Sanshui Port and 3,000-ton Xinan Port conveniently link with international ports including Nansha, Shekou and Hong Kong.
Strong industrial performance contributed by renowned enterprises
In 2021, Sanshui realised a total industrial output value of more than RMB400bn and a regional GDP of over RMB140bn. It is known as a new growth engine of the manufacturing industry of Foshan, a key node area in the Guangzhou–Foshan urban cluster and an ideal place in the Greater Bay Area for developing speciality industries. Thanks to its superior investment environment, comprehensive facilities and efficient government services, Sanshui has attracted a number of well-known domestic and foreign enterprises, including Foton, Bangpu Technology Limited, Valeo, Faurecia, Aiqi Technology, Keda, Budweiser, Red Bull, Carlsberg, Jianlibao, Watsons, Fenglu, Rifeng, Zschimmer & Schwarz and Sumitomo Corporation.
Six key industries
With a high-quality industrial space occupying 235 square kilometres, the ability to pool together innovation resources and being in line with the “14th Five-Year Plan”, Sanshui is nurturing the “4+2” industry clusters (four leading industries and two emerging industries) and building the development model of “incubated by the Greater Bay Area, transformed by Sanshui”.



Stunning scenery
Sanshui is the only county-level pilot zone for rural revitalisation and comprehensive reform in Guangdong Province. It is blessed with a beautiful natural environment that features mountains, rivers and lakes. It enjoys excellent air and water quality and its soil is rich in selenium. Sanshui is also home to the largest wetland in the Pearl River Delta city cluster and is regarded as the “green lung” of the area. It is China’s first affluent county with a long life expectancy.

Located in the south of China, Sanshui’s stunning scenery includes the convergence of three magnificent rivers, a national wetland park, the ancestral temple of military general and politician Wu Zixu, Sanshui Lotus World, traditional Lingnan buildings and forests, all of which contribute to the district’s renowned attribute of being eco-friendly and liveable.

A place to work and live
Sanshui has already developed a unique urban pattern and is rapidly upgrading various new areas including Sanshui New City and Beijiang New Area. The business districts including Sanshui Wanda Plaza, New Power Square and Sanshui Square are thriving, while leisure facilities such as Beijiang Leisure Park, Xi’nan Park and Sanjiang Shuiyun Park add to Sanshui’s appeal.
