Although governments are launching new policies to support enterprises (like the HKSAR Government\u2019s HK$30 billion Anti-epidemic Fund), what else can businesses do to ride out the economic downturn and to stay relevant in the aftermath?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Benjamin Chau (Deputy Executive Director of the HKTDC) explained that <strong>online promotions were the key to SMEs adapting and overcoming current challenges<\/strong>. With the majority of consumers avoiding brick and mortar stores and doing the majority of their shopping online, <strong>introducing<\/strong><\/span><strong> <span style=\"color: #00ccff;\"><a style=\"color: #00ccff;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.storehub.com\/blog\/coronavirus-covid-19-business-owner-tips\/\">customer loyalty programmes or online promotions<\/a><\/span> <\/strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>are a great way to encourage repeated spending<\/strong>. As global consumers spend increasing amounts of time at home, it\u2019s a prime opportunity to upsize social media branding efforts and increase customer engagement.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">To help enterprises increase their competitiveness and develop new client bases, Mr. Chau also announced the launch of HKTDC\u2019s new advisory and training support programme \u2013 providing SMEs with the necessary platform to transition from outdated business models towards more adaptive models.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">For business owners interested in <\/span><span style=\"color: #00ccff;\"><a style=\"color: #00ccff;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.hktdc.com\/info\/trade-events\/ci\/TDCHK-upcoming\/en\/Other-HKTDC-Events-In-Hong-Kong.htm\">HKTDC\u2019s entrepreneurial seminars<\/a><\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\"> (involving topics like business needs, digital and social media promotions, content marketing, search engine marketing and more), Mr. Chau noted that many will be hosted live via webcast.
