The NeuGait is intended to provide ankle dorsiflexion for patients with foot drop due to an upper motor neuron injury or disease (such as a stroke, multiple sclerosis, incomplete spinal cord injuries, cerebral palsy or traumatic brain injury).
During swing phase of gait, the stimulator of the product outputs electrical stimulation pulses that are delivered to nerves and muscles in the affected leg through the surface electrodes; thus, it provides dorsiflexion of the foot and may improve the patient’s gait.
The product may also prevent disuse atrophy, maintain or increase joint range of motion, facilitate muscle re-education and increase local blood flow.
