The "HKeToll" free-flow tolling system, is a smart mobility initiative aimed at enhancing the overall efficiency of the transport system. It replaced manual and automatic toll booths, allowing motorists to pay without stopping, thus avoiding the need for new infrastructure. The service is mainly composed of the “HKeToll system” and “Toll Tag”. Utilising Radio Frequency Identification technology, Automatic Number Plate Recognition and LiDAR, the system can read the Toll Tags affixed on the windscreen of the vehicle and tolls can be deducted from the pre-set toll payment accounts automatically.
