The Mexican prickly pear cactus is the fruit of the cactus, this fruit endemic to Mexico with more than 25 thousand years of history. Currently, Mexico is the main producer of prickly pear cactus at the international level with nearly 50 thousand cultivable hectares.
In Mexico there are about 12 varieties of consumable prickly pear cactus of the 25 consumable varieties.
The properties of the prickly pear cactus is very broad including anti-carcinogenic, anti-oxidant, anti-viral and anti-inflammatory qualities. As well as support for diabetes and reduction of blood fat.
This fruit is considered a superfood due to its qualities mentioned above as well as its high content of calcium, vitamin C, B2, B6, phosphorus and potassium. But these qualities are not the only ones since this almost miraculous fruit alkalizes the blood, regulates digestion, favors the function of the kidneys and strengthens the heart.
