Gewürztraminer 2024 / The Greetings from National Park
Wine has a lighter yellow color. The smell is expressive, but balanced. We can find here tones of candied lychee, rose oil, but also the character of cloves and cinnamon. The taste is built on a more pronounced residual sugar. The character of ripe nectarine, honey and dried raisins prevails here. Wine has a medium-long finish. Fermented and aged in the stainless steal tank for 7 months, filtration and bottling.
Pair semi-sweet Gewürztraminer with rich, fatty meats like duck or foie gras, intensely flavored Asian, Indian, and Middle Eastern dishes, strong or pungent cheeses like Munster or aged Gouda, and fruit-based desserts featuring tropical fruits. The wine's sweetness balances spicy, salty, and rich flavors while its aromatic profile complements dishes with exotic spices and herbs like ginger, cinnamon, and cardamom.
The Greetings from National Park range
A complex range of characterful varietal wines. For each variety we have selected one of the rare creatures of the Podyjí National Park.
Thaya Winery
We farm about 105 hectares of our own vineyards. They are located in the immediate vicinity of the winery and in the neighbouring wine-growing villages – specifically the villages of Hnanice, Šatov, Havraníky, Vrbovec and Dyjákovičky. The vineyards adjacent to the Podyjí National Park have been known since the ancient Romans for their unique sunny location.
The basic series and fresh wines are aged in new stainless steel tanks. But our main passion is wine in oak barrels. We get these from France and Austria, and for each variety and type there is a different size, type of toasting and different wood drying time.
We have repeatedly been finalists in the Winery of the Year competition, and in 2023 we became winners in the Medium Winery category as well as overall winners. And in 2021 our Pinot Blanc 2018 was the absolute winner of the Salon des Vins. THAYA wines are also regularly successful in international competitions, and with each harvest our winery moves forward.
