Greywater, defined as non-fecally contaminated water within residential, hospitality, office, or community structures, encompasses sources like sinks, showers, baths, laundry machines, and dishwashers.
Despite containing fewer pathogens and dissolved organic matter compared to sewage, greywater still mandates suitable biological treatment and clarification prior to reuse. The Dunwell Membrane Bio-Reactor (DMBR), characterized by its compact footprint and membrane separation capabilities, can be readily installed within a building's small mechanical room to convert greywater into clean water.
The processing and reuse of treated greywater in urban water systems provide substantial benefits by alleviating the demand for fresh water and reducing the volume of wastewater requiring transportation and treatment. The absence of dissolved salts in the treated greywater enables its application in irrigation and toilet flushing.
