Appearance and Properties:

High purity hafnium is known as the crystalline hafnium(Hafnium Crystal Bar), which is silver with metallic luster. It has well anti-corrosive property, so it's not susceptible to the erosion of common acid and alkaline solution, but it can dissolve in hydrofluoric acid and form fluoride complexe. At high temperature, hafnium can react with oxygen, nitrogen, and then form oxide and nitride. Hafnium is stable in air, but powdered hafnium is easy to burn.

Applications:

It's mainly made into the material of hafnium alloy. As hafnium has fast endothemic and exdothemic properties(double than zirconium and titanium), it can be made into the structure material of jet engine. Because of the high melting point, it can be made into vans of turbo-jet aircraft and applied to the jet engine of coagulation-point type. Also,it can be made into valve, nozzle and other high temperature resistant parts.
