The Official’s Hat Armchair is one of the most successful chair designs and one of the earliest classical styles to emerge. The chair’s name derives from its resemblance to the wing-like hat worn by government officials in ancient China (with protrusions from both ends of the top rail), thus also symbolises success and dignitary status.
