Based on the differential absorption LiDAR (DIAL) principle, the system emits a pair of closely spaced laser wavelengths—one in a strong absorption band and the other in a weak absorption band of ozone. By analyzing the returned signals, the vertical profile of ozone concentration is retrieved through differential inversion. Through optimization of the optical receiving system and the addition of a secondary (auxiliary) telescope alongside the primary telescope, the system can measure ozone vertical profiles up to 15 km.
