Description
Located in the northern part of downtown, the Yichun Economic and Technological Development Zone lies at the intersection of State Road 320 and the Shanghai-Kunming Expressway.
Founded in September 2003, it fills a planning area of 81.5 square kilometres with a built-up area of about 20 square kilometres. It has 600-plus registered companies, 300-plus production enterprises and 60,000 local people.
In May 2006, the Zone gained approval as a provincial development area and was soon ranked as Jiangxi’s most advanced industrial parks. Among other distinctions, it is regarded as a leading eco-industrial park and the first provincial modern service area. In January 2013, it became a National Economic and Technological Development Zone.
The Zone firmly relies on Yichun’s industrial base and resource conditions while actively coordinating a Poyang Lake ecological economic area. By constantly improving industrial planning, adjusting modes of economic growth and building strategic emerging industrial systems, the Zone has distinguished itself, forming the first state-level new-lithium-energy industrial base, plus provincial electromechanical, services and medicine industrial bases. All of these now form dominant industries.
