Bancroft provided pre-planning and full architectural and engineering services to re-develop multiple standard operational protocols (SOP&rsquo;s) for both the researchers and physical plant for the new BSL3 suites at the Zablocki VA in Milwaukee, WI.

The intended use of this specialized lab is to further the research and testing of select agents.

Bancroft&rsquo;s seasoned team of laboratory planners understood that the planning for the approvals and certification from both the CDC and the FBI needed to start at the onset of the project. Our lab planning experts led the research team along with the security and building maintenance team through the development of the design of these laboratories to clearly define the anticipated use of the space.

The new program includes existing and new class III biosafety cabinets and other recommissioned equipment relocated from the existing laboratory. Additional equipment includes incubators, medical gases, autoclave, decontamination system and other related benchtop equipment.&nbsp; The design and program require a dedicated HVAC system, gowning and de-gowning area, monitoring and controls, expansion of the security systems and personnel training.

Project Description
Bancroft &nbsp;provided complete A/E services to renovate this Mental Health Facility and office space, including but &nbsp;not limited to all architectural and engineering, professional, technical and investigative services for for the renovation of approximately 80,000 square feet. &nbsp;
The project includes modernized waiting areas, tele-therapy units, group therapy units and individual treatment offices. &nbsp;The project also involves considerable use of phasing due to multiple relocations of existing departments and to allow for continual use of non-impacted spaces. A primary objective is to make more efficient use of space and create additional separate offices for use by doctors. This requires a creative design solution to reconfigure a considerable amount of space, incorporating wayfinding and Evidence-Based Design initiatives.

Project Description 	 The Cancer Research Center is a new two story 24,000 sq. ft. research building attached to the present University of Illinois College of Medicine building.&nbsp; 	 Bancroft-AE designed the laboratories and support spaces within the building, featuring a 3,850 sq. ft. general lab space on each floor with lab support such as tissue culture rooms, microscopy rooms, histology room, utility room, freezer farm and hood alcoves. 	 Beyond the lab are offices, student open office and meeting space with coffee station. 	 The exterior and interior of the building plus all building systems is designed to meet LEED standards. Bancroft AE is providing full A/E services to design a new Laboratory and Pharmacy building for the Northern Arizona VA Health Care System.

The building will be located next to the newly constructed Emergency Department.&nbsp; This location places both functions right between the ED and the Outpatient Care Clinic, and provides good access to both the Community Living Center (CLC) and the Inpatient Care wards in Building 107.

The building will serve both inpatient and outpatient needs with a project objective of improving the service to the inpatient and outpatient population and provide for future growth of the program.

The location of the building is part of an historic building site and there was a considerable amount of utilities mapping of the area required.
