Demand Management (ReTAAS)&rdquo;  

The Retail Technology Adoption Assistance Scheme for Manpower Demand Management (ReTAAS) has approved funding of over 80 per cent of its processed applications since its launch in December 2014. The total amount of funding approved is $4.15 million up to the end of March 2016.

To alleviate the manpower shortage problem of the retail industry, the Government introduced the $50-million Retail Technology Adoption Assistance Scheme for Manpower Demand Management (ReTAAS) in December 2014 to help the industry adopting relevant ICT and other technologies to enhance productivity and manage manpower demand.

Up to the end of March 2016, the scheme has received a total of 187 applications and has processed 146 of them, amongst which&nbsp;121 were approved (82.9%).

Many of the first batch of grantees completed their approved projects and received&nbsp;the&nbsp;approved funds. For example, a pet product seller has used the approved fund to install a point-of-sale system to connect its online-to-offline platforms to enhance efficiency and save manpower; and set up a closed-circuit television system to enable 24-hour monitoring of the security of the physical store without extra manpower. The initiatives have assisted the company&rsquo;s expansion from an online shop to a physical store.

Applications for ReTAAS are accepted all year round with vetting being held every three months and the next cut-off time for applications will be 30&nbsp;April 2016.

Ethical Audits (EA)

The Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization (SASO) manages the Saudi Product Safety Program called "SALEEM". The SALEEM program is concerned with the safety of products entering the Saudi market, which is why the program is called SALEEM. In Arabic, SALEEM indicates that the product is safe, secure, and free of flaws that may directly or indirectly harm individuals, society, or the environment. Under SALEEM, product and shipment conformity program is operated via an online system called SABER. SABER has been gradually implemented by technical regulation (TR) since January 2019. The transition was completed in February 2020. Importers of products regulated by the TR are required to register the products in the SABER system to obtain the Certificate of Conformity, after passing the assessment. All product consignments intended to be imported to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia must present the Certificates of Conformity at Saudi Customs for a smooth clearance. For all inspections, QIMA uses the standard internationally recognized ANSI/ASQC Z1.4 (ISO 2859-1) statistical sampling procedure. These comprehensive criteria cover: functionality, performance, durability, overall appearance, and dimension. Inspection certificates are issued if stipulated in the letter of credit.
