- Founded by the Russian Government on February 09, 1923 Aeroflot is among the world's oldest airlines and of Russia's most recognised brands.

- Aeroflot was the first Russian airline company to join the International Air Transport Association (IATA) in 1989.

- Through its hub at Sheremetyevo Airport in Moscow, Aeroflot under the Summer schedule 2011, operates flights to 102 destinations in 49 countries (29 destinations in Russia). Inside Russia, Aeroflot has five branches --- in St. Petersburg, Sochi, Krasnoyarsk, Kaliningrad and Vladivostok (now in process of transformation into a representative's office). The airline pays a special attention to its presence in the Russian market, especially Siberia and the Far East.

- In 2010, Aeroflot carried 11, 3 million passengers (around 30 per cent increase compared to 2009). The total amount of passengers carried by Aeroflot Group exceeded 14 million.
