Our business started when co-founder Alex Henrich was surprised at how often our simply decorated home was being used for photographic shoots – when there was really nothing too special about it. He began to realize that the beautiful designer products we had become accustomed to in Europe were simply not available in Hong Kong. Or if they were they were priced above the odds and took months to arrive. And what’s more, events in Hong Kong were using build-and-trash products, or worse, replicas made in China, with which to build a look and feel for high-end brands. There had to be a better way. So he persuaded his business partner Sonia Jackson (who also happens to be his wife) to join him on his quest to introduce more and marvelous designer brands into Hong Kong. In September 2011 IROCO Design brought several containers of product and stored them wall-to-wall in our home (the children thought it was fantastic), we mailed out a catalogue and we waited. The rest is history. By giving customers access to the best in modern design – including iconic works that have been in production since the mid-20th century as well as innovative items designed today – we have made new brands available in Hong Kong. Authenticity is something we are proud of. We do not deal in replicas. Being innovative in our choices is something else we appreciate – we are spearheading the introduction of many new brands and designs into this part of the world.
