Nikkei Inc, a major Japanese business news publisher, established an English-language editorial operation in Hong Kong in September 2013, as part of the launch of a new publication called Nikkei Asian Review (NAR) that has broadened the company's focus to the wider Asian region. NAR is a multi-platform publication consisting of a website, mobile apps and a weekly print magazine and it aims to be the only global news publication specialishing in pan-Asian affairs.
Hong Kong's position as a regional media centre and the availability of media talent have helped the company hire one full-time and one part-time journalist to write, commission and edit articles for the NAR.The company is planning to hire additional staff. The Hong Kong office also serves as Nikkei's Greater China regional headquarters to handle advertising and events operations.
The name of NAR had been changed to Nikkei Asia, with effect on 1 Oct 2020
