While home is not always an option, students in HK are in fact having a hard time finding just a quiet place with a desk for self-studying. And even they do manage to find one, study might not be efficient because there are never teachers providing on-site support. It is particularly unfavourable for underprivileged like evening school / private candidates, who have only ‘compressed’ school hours plus they could not afford any private tutoring session.
Meanwhile surplus teachers and private tutors are struggling to stay in the industry. Many of them are underemployed or even unemployed because they generally only use word-of-mouth strategy that their customer bases are always small. If they choose to leave the industry, years of training and teaching experience become a complete waste of social resources. 
As a social enterprise, Project LEARNT creates co-learning space in restaurants during idle time (their weekly closing date), providing suitable study area to students including those minorities who need both education support and working opportunity; as well as a place that tutors could expand their student network. This is a revolutionary venture in HK, integrating self-study centres, on-site learning support, career planning, tutor–student matching and catering services.
