Wellington Gallery is a leading Hong Kong contemporary gallery specializing in Modern Chinese art. Established in 2004 and located at the top of Wydndam Street, it covers an area of some 4,000 square feet in the
midst of Central's business district, and are only a few steps away from the Lan Kwai Fong entertainment district.
Welling Gallery is dedicated to introducing a diversity of exciting modern works from China for the enjoyment of art collectors and viewers. Rather than following what other Hong Kong art galleries may offer, we aim to set the agenda in identifying top quality works by new and yet-to-be discovered artists.
We are passionate about art and are commited to bringing young and emerging Chinese artists to show their work in Hong Kong, many of whom have since achieved recognition by international museums and art experts. A programme of changing group echibitions and special solo shows are presented, such as recent collaborations with artist Chen Guangming,Zou Cao and Cao Xiaodong. Special exhibitions are often accompanied by comprehensive illustrated catalogues with in-depth essays by established critics.
At the spacious gallery, the airy two-level shop-space offers an ideal environment to view art. Here, you can find paintings from witty depictions of Mao to realist renderings of coal miners daringly Chinese Pop works and colorful,witty sculptures. A patio area and a further exhibitions space towards the back of the ground floor gallery provide further areas to view works which may suit outdoor or a more ambient locale.
