King’s Phase Technologies Limited provides new solutions on gas detection, developing new proprietary semiconductor fabrication techniques for cost efficient production of low-cost, high efficiency gas sensors. 
King’s Phase Technologies Limited was established in 2019. After moving into HKSTP in July 2020 as part of HKSTP’s Incu-Tech program, King’s Phase Technologies has won several accolades, including Open Group Champion of Hardware Journey Competition and Outstanding Team Award of CUHK’s Make a DASH Competition, as well as receiving interviews from RTHK and the Hong Kong Economic Journal.
King’s Phase Technologies is currently working on sensing ketone bodies, which are by-products produced by the body as part of the fat burning process. Sensing ketone bodies thus allows us to understand human fat burning rate and risk of ketoacidosis, a dangerous condition where the body burns fat out of control. Current technologies in ketone sensing are either invasive and inconvenient for quick checks, or offers ketone sensing with low sensitivity and specificity. King’s Phase Technologies has developed a gas sensor module capable of detecting organic compounds at concentrations down to individual parts per billion. This sensitivity comes from the sensor’s proprietary metal oxide surface coating, creating a surface with unparalleled porosity and high sensitivity. The resulting sensor, codenamed ‘KPT1020’, is a VOC sensor specializing in the separation and identification of component gases in human breath, with sensitivity targeted towards ketones.
