The Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Environmental Protection Science Research Institute (hereinafter referred to as the Environmental Science Institute) is the research unit with the most concentrated environmental protection technology personnel and the widest range of talent knowledge structure in Guangxi's environmental protection system. It was founded in 1974 and is a second-class public welfare unit directly under the Guangxi Department of Ecology and Environment. In 2014, the Guangxi Environmental Protection Foreign Cooperation and Exchange Center brand was added; In 2017, the Guangxi Environmental Protection Technology Center brand was added.
The Institute of Environmental Sciences mainly focuses on the hot and difficult issues of environmental protection in Guangxi, conducting fundamental and innovative major scientific research projects and environmental consulting services for major projects, providing solid scientific and technological support for deepening and winning the battle against pollution prevention and control. It has become an environmental protection think tank of the Party Committee and Government of the autonomous region. There are 307 employees on duty in the entire hospital, with a proportion of over 85% being scientific and technological personnel.
The Academy of Environmental Sciences has a number of scientific and technological innovation platforms such as the Autonomous Region Talent Hub, Engineering Technology Research Center, Judicial Appraisal Center, as well as a number of scientific research laboratories such as the Environmental Analysis and Testing Center Laboratory and the Southwest Atmospheric Science Observation and Research Station. In recent years, we have successfully applied for more than 30 national and Guangxi science and technology plan (fund) projects, standard setting projects, etc.
