Tasting note: This wine has all the attributes of a classic Cape Blend. Dark plum red colour. Bold black currant fruit and integrated oak flavours are complimented by soft, yet elegant ripe tannins. The entry gives way to luxurious roundedness, beautiful broad tannins, understated with complexity and promise.
Vineyard practices: 5 Wire hedged vineyards planted on Glenrosa soil type located on the Bottelary Hills. the vines are between 11 and 56 years old and yields only 5.0 ton/ha.
Vellar practices: The grapes were harvested by hand and spent six hours on the skins before being inoculated with yeast and fermented dry on the skins at 26 C for approximately four days. Malolactic fermentation was completed in stainless steel tanks, after which the wine was matured for twenty months in French and American oak barrels.
Food pairing: can be enjoyed with slw roasted belly of pork, roasted duck and beef fillet medallions.
Maturation potential: Due to the elegance and fruit intensity it is also delicious to drink now and will reach peak maturity 7 years from vintage.
