Heilongjiang is located in one of the world's three major black soil zones, with fertile soil, large temperature differences between day and night, and abundant sunshine, providing a unique growth environment for black beans. The cold climate causes black beans to have a longer growth cycle, accumulate more nutrients, and have a richer taste.

Black beans have plump granules, a shiny black seed coat, and a light colored navel. They are rich in protein (about 40%), unsaturated fatty acids, anthocyanins, isoflavones, and various minerals (such as calcium, iron, and zinc), with outstanding antioxidant capacity.
