As shown here is pricklyash peel originating from Guangxi. The pricklyash peel is picked from the finest ripe fruit and dried under strict control. The herb is widely used in Chinese traditional therapy to warm the spleen and stomach, to relieve pain, to kill worms, and to relieve itching.
- Latin name: pericarplum zanthoxyli.
- Source: ripe fruit of zanthoxylum schinifolium, Sieb. et Zucc, or zanthoxylum bungeanum Maxim (Fam. Rutaceae).
- Indications: epigastric pain accompanied by cold sensation, vomiting and diarrhea; abdominal pain due to intestinal parasitosis; ascariasis.
- External use for itching in eczema.
