End Glow PMMA fiber cable comes in two configurations - single strands fiber cable, either of sheathed or unsheathed strands of 0.50mm, 0.75mm, 1mm, 1.5mm, 2mm, 2.5mm and 3.0mm diameter fiber, or as sheathed multi strands of 0.75mm and or 1.0mm fiber, knows as end glow multi-string fiber cable.

This unsheathed single-core fiber strand is also known as the bare fiber tail. Its core material is PMMA (Polymethyl-Methacrylate Resin, Acrylic) with Fluorinated Polymer as the cladding material. The fiber strand itself does not emit light or contain any color as it just transmits the light from the light engine to the end. The intensity and color of the transmitted light depend on the light engine (also known as the light source, projector, illuminator) and the fiber strands' attenuation rate.

Single fiber strands give starry points of light and normally require no termination, whilst multi-stranded varieties are normally terminated with a ferrule to allow the attachment of an end fitting. The tails are joined together in a connector (the fiber connector) which plugs into the light engine, and are normally loose at the other end. Harnesses may be terminated with ferrules or other end fittings at the loose end, depending on the type of fiber used.

Minar MF Series are the unsheathed end glow fiber strands with an attenuation of 0.22dB/M. At 15 meters, the light transmission loss is about 53%. The longest recommended length is about 15 to 18 meters if it is powered by our 80W fiber optic light engine. Its minimum bending radius is 10 times of its diameter.
