This classic wine gives complex aromas of alpine berries, summer cherries, wild violets and spice meld with French oak. Picked at the height of perfumed floral flavours, the tannins and colour are fine. The palate is classical while a touch of stalk and oak puncheon tannin gathered during fermentation and then maturation complement the naturally fine tannin of the early harvest. The long finish follows through autumn cranberries accompanied by minerals and taut acidity. This wine will surely reward the patience of those who cellar.

Background of the wine:
- This wine represents a union of Burgundy and Tasmania. In 1963, Claudio Alcorso took cuttings from a range of vineyards across Burgundy. Breaking a multitude of laws, he smuggled them into Australia and begun the work of propagating the vines for the Moorilla vineyard. The shallow soils upon sandstone keep yields very low while sea breezes allow slow flavour development. Our winemaking today is an array of techniques specifically chosen to suit these vines and the Moorilla vineyard.
