SERICIS CEPAS VIEJAS MONASTRELL D.O.P. ALICANTE
‘Sericis’ means ‘silky’ in Latin. This wine’s name and smoothness pay tribute to Requena’s silk trade and Casa de la Seda guild house. It is made using Monastrell grapes and is aged for at least 14 months in new French oak casks.
Area of Production
The Denominación de Origen Protegida Alicante, on the Eastern coast of Spain enjoys a warm climate throughout the year and the positive influences of the Mediterranean. The inland mountainous areas have a Continental climate.
Grape Variety
Winemaking
The grapes are picked by hand. Destemmed and gently pressed. Prefermentation maceration at a low temperature for 3-4 days, selected yeasts are added for a controlled fermentation at a maximum of 26ºC. After 21 days of maceration the wine is taken out. Aged for a minimum of 12 months in French oak casks.
Tasting Note
- Colour : Intense red with purple tones.
- Aroma: Elegant, powerful aromas of ripe fruit and toasted oak.
- Taste: Full bodied, complex, ripe tannins and toasted flavours on the finish.

- Sericis Cepas Viejas Monastrell is an ideal wine to accompany red meats, game, stews, spicy dishes and strong cheeses.
- Serve between 16 and 18ºC.
