 The Taiwan Textile Federation (TTF) was founded on November 25, 1975 in response to a move by the European Economic Community (EEC) to impose import quotas on textile manufacturing countries. These quotas were to be negotiated individually through diplomatic channels. However, Taiwan did not have formal diplomatic relations with the EEC, so TTF was formed with the guidance and financial support from the government and textile manufacturers to represent Taiwan¢s textile industry to negotiate with the EEC.

Over the years, TTF has gradually adapted to meet the needs of the textile industry, expanding its functions to market promotion, product design, fashion information analysis, online information, technology training, collection and analysis of market information, certification of functional textiles, publications of textile information, issuance of Certificate of Origin, and other textile-related services. TTF has acquired ISO 9001 certification from the British Standards Institution (BSI) for quality control systems, thus substantiating its competence to provide the best services for Taiwan¢s textile industry.

TTF's Vision

Since all textile quotas are terminated by the year 2005, the international textile trade once again becomes totally liberalized. To meet this challenge, Taiwan¢s textile industry must upgrade in every aspect, from manufacturing technology, design, and research to marketing.

Always striving to assist the industry to meet all new global challenges, TTF will focus on three goals: building Taiwan as the design R&D center for fabrics in the Asian Pacific Region, developing Taiwan into a logistic management center for global textile products, and striving to cultivate textile talents in design, R&D, and marketing.

TTF will continue to serve Taiwan¢s textile industry with active, aggressive, creative and enthusiastic attitudes, and assist Taiwan¢s textile industry to make the most effective use of advanced knowledge and technology.
