Origin & Terroir

Château Grandefont covers 45 hectares of vineyards on the left bank of the Dordogne river, in Saint-Avit-Saint-Nazaire. Originally planted with fruit trees, the domaine was gradually replanted with vines during the 1960s. Situated on the former riverbed, the vineyards benefit from gravelly soils and a unique microclimate due to their proximity to the river. The name “Grandefont” means “large fountain,” recalling its historical role as a stopover for boatsmen transporting wine towards Bordeaux.

This single-variety Malbec range reflects the renewal of Bordeaux, offering approachable, easy-to-drink wines in modern, attractive packaging.

Tasting Notes

Reveals an elegant, delicate bouquet of strawberry and blackberry, with violet and cinnamon emerging after aeration. The palate is silky, fresh, and long, carried by intense fruitiness that lingers on the finish. A supple and delicious expression of Malbec.
