VARIETY GRAN RESERVA FOUR REDS BLEND
CABERNET SAUVIGNON (40%) – CARMENERE (30%) – MERLOT (15%) - SYRAH (15%)
ORIGIN Maule Valley. Chile
VINEYARDS
This wine blends four different grapes from our Maule vineyards: El Oriente and Riberalta, located in Parral on the southwest end of the Maule region. The terroir shared by the Cabernet Sauvignon and the Merlot is defined by a poor soil of clayish texture, on loamy grounds of high sun exposure. The Syrah and Carmenere are planted on an open esplanade exposed to strong southern breeze. Each grape provides different characteristics to the wine, while the Cabernet Sauvignon leads with structure, the Carmenere supplies the spicy notes. And while the Merlot shows its velvety softness, the Syrah delivers the tannic sweetness and aromas of ripe red fruits.
Vineyard yield: 9 ton/ha. Harvest date: Last week of March and second week of April.
TECHNICAL NOTES
During vinification all four grapes are produced separately, using temperatures lower than usual, ranging between 26-28ºC in order to maintain fruit aromas with special techniques to achieve the desired tannin and color extraction. 40% of the wine was kept in French and American oak barrels for 6 months, the blend was made and just a soft filtration was made before bottling.
TASTING NOTES
Intense red ruby color. A very attractive wine of young character dictated by its fresh fruit aromas and spicy notes, where the characteristics of each variety have harmonized to provide complexity. It is suitable to be consumed immediately or continue to evolving favorably for several years.
SERVE Serve at: 17 to 18°C Ideal for pastas and red stews, or grilled steaks.
