Microcrystalline cellulose (MCC) is a product of natural cellulose hydrolyzed to its ultimate degree of polymerization by acid. It is white or nearly white in color, odorless and tasteless, and its particle size is generally about 2 to 80 μm. It has the advantages of low density, high modulus, renewability, biodegradability and wide availability.
