Passenger Counting Solution (PCS) provides real-time transport vehicle vacancy information to both public transport operators and passengers to improve overall citizen’s mobility experience. It provides necessary information that: 

1)    the government needs, to strategize city planning; 

2)    transport operators need, to optimize their operation; and 

3)    passengers need, to plan their everyday journey. 

PCS disturbs the status-quo by providing an affordable and privacy-friendly solution that would meet the needs of multiple parties above. PCS leverages edge computing, LiDAR and computer vision. To prove its practicality, it has been put into Proof-of-Concept (POC) on a green minibus in Hong Kong and demonstrated its adaptability and performance on minibus with an accuracy of up to 90%.
