TruTag Technologies is a spinout of Skai Ventures. TruTag has developed a unique anti-counterfeiting and item authentication microtag solution for a wide range of products, including pharmaceuticals, nutritional supplements, food, medical devices, electronics, cosmetics and luxury goods.

TruTagTM microtags can be used as a "covert, heat-resistant, edible bar code" via pure silica microtags that each are about the width of a human hair. TruTag microtags can be applied directly to high-value items such as the coating of a pill and are made of the highest purity silica, which is deemed "generally recognized as safe" (GRAS) by the US FDA. TruTag microtags are edible, biologically insert, passive and inconspicuous and can be associated with a unique spectral code chosen from a library of over one trillion codes. This spectrum is measured via a simple, low-cost spectrometer-based reader. This spectrum can also be linked to (and verified by) other information printed on the package, such that the item and packaging are authenticated together as part of a high security track-and trace system.
