Yonetsuru Shuzo Co., Ltd.

Founded 1697 (Genroku years). It is recorded in the "Yamagata Prefecture Sake Brewer's Inscription" edited in 1916 that it played a leading role in the 32 local brewers. After that, in order to promote sake brewing with an emphasis on quality, the 10th generation Ihee studied brewing at the current Faculty of Agriculture, Osaka University in the 1920s, and he himself became Toji(Brewing Master) and worked on sake brewing based on scientific knowledge, is the foundation of the current Yonetsuru.
Since then, it has won more than 37 times Gold Prize in the Annual Japan Sake Award, more than 57 times in the Annual Tohoku Sake Award, and more than 170 in various sake contests, and the number of awards is still increasing. The awards include not only Daiginjo, but also IWC (International Wine Challenge) Great Value Award for ordinary sake (Yonetsuru Junsei), the Gold Award for Fine Sake Award, and the Gold Award for the Kanzake Contest. In addition, it was adopted by Japan Airlines (JAL) for 5 years from 2007, and for ANA Holdings' business class in-flight liquor from 2017.
At Yonetsuru, we have been the first to grow high-quality sake rice locally and use it as a raw material to produce sake of world-class quality. This can be said to be a domain in the world of wine. Since 1983, we have formed the Takahata Town Sake Rice Study Group in cooperation with local farmers to promote the cultivation of rice suitable for sake brewing in fields near the kuramoto. Currently, we grow about 90 tons of sake rice in a field of about 20 ha. As a result of these efforts, about half of the rice shipped from the local Takahata-cho Niijuku area is suitable for sake brewing.
The breakdown is Dewa no Sato, Dewa Sansan, Miyama Nishiki, Yuki Megami, Kissui, and Kameno-o. Among them, Kissui is a sake rice variety that was registered as a new variety by Yonetsuru Kurabito in 1993, and is one of the results of sake brewing from sake rice cultivation.
Brand name Yonetsuru has two meanings, Gratitude and Happiness.
