A true 100% Petite Sirah aged for 22 months in primarily French oak (88% new) with a little bit of the juice going into American oak barrels for a slight vanilla flavor. The Petite Sirah at Rodney's Vineyard is planted at a 900-foot elevation on a natural mesa, creating grapes with a rich concentration. This opaque, dark purple/ black inky wine exudes aromas of blackberry, plum, cocoa, black pepper, black licorice, espresso, cinnamon and smoke. The massive structure and full texture is nicely balanced by the palate subtleties of blackberry compote, dark chocolate, dark roast coffee, blueberry, vanilla and allspice. An impressive addition to a longtime favorite wine for Epiphany, the 2008 Petite Sirah will be a wine that can be enjoyed for years to come.
