Qvevri Wines

39 Qvevri LLC

Our winery is based in Bitsmendi, a village in the heart of Kartli, a region whose role in Georgian wine history is both significant and often overlooked. This is a landscape of gentle hills, balanced climate, and rich soils that have supported vineyards for centuries. It is also a place connected to the legacy of important Georgian figures such as Guramishvili and Ilya Tsinamdzgvrishvili, whose work in viticulture and agriculture helped shape the foundations of Georgian farming culture.
Today, our vineyards cover five hectares, carefully selected and cultivated with minimal intervention. We work closely with nature, allowing the vines to respond to the land and the rhythm of each season. The goal is not to shape the vineyard by force, but to preserve its character and let it speak through the grapes.
Everything we produce is made in qvevri, following Georgia’s ancient winemaking tradition. Our cellar holds 39 qvevris, the number that defines both our name and our philosophy. It keeps our work focused and personal. Each year, we produce around 30,000 bottles, never more than the vineyards and our standards can genuinely support.
Harvest is done entirely by hand, with careful selection in the vineyard. In the cellar, the process remains as natural as possible: no fining, no stabilization, and no filtration. The wines develop slowly in qvevri, where they evolve in their own time. This approach preserves purity, texture, and individuality.
Our focus is on both Kartli’s indigenous varieties Goruli Mtsvane, Chinuri, Shavkapito, and Tavkveri and other important Georgian grapes such as Khikhvi, Kisi, Rkatsiteli, and Saperavi. Each variety is handled with the same care and patience, always with the aim of expressing its truest identity.
39 Qvevri is a small winery by choice. We are guided by craftsmanship rather than volume, and by the belief that meaningful wine is created through patience, detail, and honesty. Every bottle carries the character of Kartli its history, its vineyards, and the enduring spirit of those who continue its story.
