Optical Fair Exhibitors Set Sight on Big Business

The Hong Kong International Optical Fair opened this Wednesday (8 November) gathered 700 exhibitors from 11 countries and regions. As its theme suggests, the Fair is “Eyeing the Future” by introducing the latest technologies that bring optimal vision to customers.

During the Fair, NewsBites talked to several exhibitors who are very keen to promote their signature products, one of which is HengYang Optical Co., Limited featuring a collection of sunglasses under the brands Lee Cooper and Maconini. Their Marketing Manager Mr. Bevis Chang said their glasses are made of titanium frames and large lenses, adjusting the lens opacity for different customers’ needs.

Bevis felt the Fair is quite crowded with much traffic. The company also did well online, as quite a number of Southeast-Asian customers from the Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam approached them via hktdc.com Sourcing in search of OEM projects, and they also saw effective connections via HKTDC’s new Scan2Match function this year.

Eco-friendly Eyewear Draws Buyer Interests

Another exhibitor that we spoke with was Wenzhou Lovedoor Group Co., Limited that sells mainly eco-friendly eyewear. According to their Vice President of Sales Mr. Bill Zhuang, their target customers love mid- to high-end products like their brand, especially those internationally-certified, sustainable eyewear accessories. They believe eco-awareness is the big trend for any product categories.

The company has been exhibiting in the Optical Fair for many years and got many business enquiries from European countries such as Italy, France and the UK. Bill believes the unique “East-meets-West” culture of Hong Kong is the reason why many overseas customers love to attend trade fairs here.

Wenzhou Lovedoor is proud of their eyewear collection featuring eco-friendliness.
From their experience, customers from different regions will have varying preferences on glass colours.

Lastly, DreamTrade Company which sells a variety of eyewear accessories and contact lenses said their glasses design are user friendly. The company’s Managing Director Mr. Allen Lee connected with some Japanese buyers online via Click2Match who then came to their Fair booth for further discussions.
